History
Japan came out of the 1930s depressions successfully by using harsh trade policies and manipulation to boast their economy. Afterwards, they dominated their neighbors, including seizing Manchukuo (China) and parts of Indochina.
Japanese felt they were superior to other races, particularly the soft Americans and Europeans. There arrogance would be there downfall despite the extreme bravery it entailed They believed the individual was not important; only loyalty to the emperor and patriotism were. However, the emperor was merely a figurehead for the democratic government; he "reigned but did not rule." (See webpage)
