Nazi Germany
Hitler's Rise to Power
In January 1933 Adolf Hitler, the Fürher "leader" of the Nazi Party, was appointed the German Chancellor. He quickly replaced the leaders of many governmental, public, and private organizations with Nazi Party members. Hitler limited the public's rights and increased his and his supporter's until Germany became a one-party dictatorship. He enacted many anti-Semitic policies to restrict the Jewish population and allow violence against them. Political dissidents were harshly put down (torture, internment, execution), while the populace were taught duty to the Fürher and the nation was everything and their lives were meaningless. However, they, the "pure" German people, were far superior to any other race, according to Hitler.
